Supporting role in London’s largest ever hole

DAM Structures are delighted to have designed, supplied and installed the temporary propping to facilitate the 5-storey basement excavation for University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s world-class high energy proton beam therapy centre.

The excavation was to a depth of 28.5 metres, large enough to contain the Royal Albert Hall, and required 4 levels of temporary propping.

The original consultants’ steelwork design was subjected to a value engineering exercise by DAM Structures and the amount of steelwork needed was reduced from the original 1570 tons to 1150 tons.
